Brf Storfjället lies on Kvarnstensvägen in Hemavan, in the western part of Storuman municipality, where the road runs out towards the Vindelfjällen nature reserve.
The association and the buildings
The association owns two buildings with a total of 31 apartments, built in 1990 and continuously maintained since.
Most apartments are used as mountain homes, but around a third of the members live here year round. That mix shapes almost everything the association decides — from how the snow clearing is scheduled to how keys and fault reports are handled when the owner is 600 kilometres away.
From the yard it is 900 metres to the lower ski lift and about the same to the grocery store. The buildings sit at 470 metres above sea level, which in practice means a long snow season and water pipes that need attention every autumn.
